How many times has your mind gone blank when a doctor asks if you have any questions?? This commonly used acronym helps us to think of the questions we need to ask when faced with a medical decision.

*What are the benefits of this procedure?

*What are the risks?

*What alternatives do I have (medical and non-medical)?

*What is my intuition telling me?

*What if we DON’T do the procedure?? (What are the benefits and risks of declining the procedure or of putting it off for a set amount of time?)

*If I agree to this procedure, what else comes along with it? (Will I need an IV? Continuous monitoring? Other medications? Will it restrict my movement? Change my food restrictions?)

Getting complete and proper answers to these questions will ensure that you can make a truly informed decision for yourself and your baby!
